A chatbox where we can post comments and have discussions on artists & songs. However, if you just want to say thank you for a particular post then please continue using the usual comment box located below each post.

Well I've finally got out of the mess and now ready to pick up where I left off last week. I had to reinstall Windows 10 a few times as the same problem kept arising. Avira antivirus was sinking its hooks into everything I plugged into a USB port and Windows wouldn't allow me to do a safe removal of HDDs or flash drives. I finally managed to do a clean install and completely remove Avira (and that's no easy task) then use a different antivirus. Now the USB issue is resolved.

Anyway, without further ado, here are today's postings: Assorted Blues, R&B, Gospel & Soul Recordings Volume 83, gives you 21 fine blues/R&B/soul recordings from 1954 to 1978, by Willie Walker, Bumble Bee Slim, Ella Fitzgerald, Diana Ross & The Supremes, The Ovations, Louis Williams, Ada Moore, Jesse Anderson, and a few other well known and lesser know artists.

And Assorted Best Of Jazz, now up to Volume 35, titled "Othelia", presents for your listening pleasure: Yusef Lateef, Billie Holiday, Peggy Lee, Dexter Gordon, Pepper Adams, Lee Morgan, Stanley Turrentine & Shirley Scott, Tubby Hayes, Art Blakey, and several other giants of jazz.

Once again I want to thank everyone for your kind thoughts and words of encouragement during my recent mishap. I always like to respond to comments but as I was so busy sorting out the mess, and there were so many comments from you, I just didn't have the time.

Enjoy the fine music presented here today my friends.

  1. Welcome back Bob, Dontcha just hate it when you can't get rid of a piece of software? I'll remember to steer clear of Avira. Glad you got it sorted. I've got a cylinder by cylinder check running (100,000 down 500,000 to go) to try and find the partition table for one of my external drives at the moment. At least I can just let it run and get on with other things. What fun...

Anyway thanks for the new comps. They have plenty of great music on them!

In other news Chris over at the Blues Blues Blues blog has decided to switch file storage providers from 1fichier to Mega so his extensive collection will be far more accessible than previously which is great news....

    1. Hi Manny, yes I read on Chris's blog how he's changing to mega. I'm aware that many of my old links are now dead but I don't think it's much of an issue as being a private blog I don't have brand new people coming in all the time, all my blog members grab what they need while the links are fresh. And yes, some software is a devil to try and get rid of. I managed to remove Avira but it still left a bunch of stuff behind, after many attempts I got rid of it all except 1 folder with 1 file inside) I just can't delete that, but as it's such a small thing it can stay, maybe one day I'll get rid of it. I was considering switching to Linux Mint but if I do that then I'll lose many apps that are only for Win, and they're apps that I use all the time.

  2. It's good to know about Avira antivirus. It's the one I use nowadays and what you described above is a good reason to have it replaced. I used to have Kaspersky, very good antivirus. Now, to the "Othelia"!!!

    1. Alvira was a good anti virus for some years but played up on me in the end. I wouldn't recommend replacing it unless it gives you some problems because it's very hard to totally remove. I'm now using Bit Defender.
