Today's "Assorted Recordings - Blues, R&B, Soul & Gospel Volume 14" serves you up 21 fine recordings dating from the Tiny Grimes Quintet's "Midnight Special" recorded for Atlantic in 1948, through to a couple of 2020 Swamp Dogg recordings. Kicking this compilation off is some fine gospel from Delores Fuller, "One More Chance Lord". Gospel hasn't appeared much on this blog so far, however, I recently had a request to feature more gospel, and I've already compiled several interesting compilations of black gospel, along with white country/hillbilly gospel. These compilations will be posted in the not too distant future. Other fine artists presented here today for your listening pleasure include: Earl Hooker, Etta James, Big Mama Thornton, Nina Simone, Billie Holiday, Nina Simone, Ike & Tina Turner, Chuck Willis, Clyde McPhatter & The Drifters, The Mar-Keys, and a few others.
And today's Soul Party Volume 51 "More Than I Can Stand". As I recently mentioned I'm moving away from just general compilations towards specific themes. We already had "The Queens Of Tears" so now it's time for the fellas to tell us about their aching hearts. And to tell you all about it are: Bobby Womack, Barrett Strong, Darrell Banks, Barry White, Billy Butler, Willie Tee, Otis Redding, and several other of the greatest soulmen.
As always my friends, enjoy the music.
