 Bob's Chat

A chatbox where we can post comments and have discussions on artists & songs. However, if you just want to say thank you for a particular post then please continue using the usual comment box located below each post.

Up until recently only the "Blues, R&B, Soul & Gospel Records" compilations have the year of the recording given for each track, however you may have noticed that now the jazz compilations also have the years added. With all the new batches of compilations that I'm currently compiling I'm now including the recording year for all tracks. So, the good news is in the future every compilation will have the recording years given with the track titles. The bad news is it's probably going to take about a year before they begin to appear on the blog as I have many compilations made up in advance waiting their turns to be posted.

Anyway, I'm sure you'll all agree that providing the recording year for each track is a good step forward and will make the compilations more interesting, especially the rare and old historical recordings.

Also you probably all know that the blog is now public again. So feel free to inform your friends and pass the word around. The blog is open to all, no registering and no password required. Everyone is welcome. Here's the blog address again: https://countrybluessoul.blogspot.com

Here today are 2 more compilations for your listening pleasure: "Blues, R&B, Soul & Gospel Records Vol 56", with 21 tracks from 1947 to 2022 by Dinah Washington, Wild Child Butler, Ray Charles, Ruth Brown, Eartha Kitt, and several other fine blues/R&B/Soul performers.

And "Assorted Best Of Jazz Vol 79" today puts the spotlight on a handful of jazz bass players with recordings from 1952 to 2023. Among the greats featured here are: Charles Mingus, Joe Chambers, Ray Brown, Jaco Pastorius, Wendell Marshall, Milt Hinton, along with a few lesser known players.

This Friday I'll be flying down to Perth for a few weeks break, so I'll probably won't post again for some days. I'll try get the next post up by Sunday.

As always my friends dig in and enjoy the music.

  4. Hi Bob,

Have fun in Perth and more info on track listings is always helpful. One question. Whats happened to The Basement? I tried to go onto it just now and it's gone with the usual Google removed notice. Is that it for the Basement?
