Regarding the recent "Albums That Deserve Another Listen" that had a password lock on the folder. This was a test to see if there would be a flood of comments requesting the PW. There wasn't. To date 51 people downloaded a copy, yet only 5 of the regulars commented asking for the PW. My apologies to those regulars, as I just said it was a test, and the result is PW or no PW it makes no difference. So for the time being there will not be any more password locks.
Anyway the PW for that Biograph LP is: AfterHourBlues
I only got to the site after you'd released the password, or else I'd have requested it :) Thanks as always!

DeleteBob, I was one of the 51 that downloaded the album. I didn't ask for the password as I thought it would be redundant for multiple people to ask the same question. In my opinion, if you received 51 requests for the password, it would be somewhat overwhelming. However, like you said, it did prove a point. Anyway, thanks for the album and thanks for the password. As always, your efforts are appreciated (password or no password).
ReplyDeleteHi JakeBlues, the test wasn't aimed at regulars like yourself who frequently comment, I was testing the silent majority who just d/l and never ever comment, and not one of them responded, the only ones who got back back to me for the PW were long time regulars.
DeleteHi Bob, just finished listening to "After Hours Blues" and i did enjoy the Tunes and my Fav was " Little Brother Montgomery - Vicksburg Blues, he is New to Me and i always like to discover some new listening pleasures, so Thanks Again for this. Mike. 👍😉
ReplyDeleteHi Mike, yes it's a mighty fine album, Vickburg Blues is one of the classics of piano blues. And I particularly enjoyed those St. Louis Jimmy tracks...rough, tough blues.
DeleteHi Bob,
ReplyDeleteAs ever thanks for the many excellent posts and I like others didn't arrive at the site before you posted the password.
However I have to say that it can be weeks or months even before I get around to extracting some of the files I download. It just depends on when I can make time to process them (transfer them into my music directory structure do the tagging and such likes). I have software which batch extracts archives and automatically runs through a pre-defined password list for any that are password protected. So if any are protected by an unknown password, chances are I'd just put it aside until I can find time to look at it in more detail. By that time I probably wouldn't know exactly where I got it from so I'd have to track it back through my download software to the blog it came from. Needless to say I have a directory with about 20 password protected files that I've downloaded over recent years that I have been unable to open automatically and I still haven't got round to looking at.
Suffice to say even if I hadn't downloaded your file as late as I did likely would not have contacted you as I am quite busy at the moment and haven't much time for archive extractions. So I would most likely have downloaded the file and left it in the 'archives waiting' directory with others I've yet to extract.
Hi Manny, always good to hear from you. As I've said above none of this was aimed at the regulars like yourself, it was just a test to poke some response from that silent majority. And it totally failed. 😆
