    1. Hi Mike, Lazy Lester was from all accounts quite a character. He went way back a long way, recording for Excello in Louisiana in the 1950s, and steadily recording right through until his death in 2018. Jay Miller, who recorded Lester's earliest sessions would pay Lester's wife to give him a hell of a time just before Lester's recording sessions, so when he rolled up to record he was in a terrible state and really sang and played excellent blues. When quizzed about this later by blues researchers Miller said it was a "technique" he used to get the best performances. Apart from his own recordings Lester also played harp on many other Excello artists' sessions.
