 The Daily Chat

A chatbox where we can post comments and have discussions on artists & songs. However, if you just want to say thank you for a particular post then please continue using the usual comment box located below each post.

Well it's holiday time again. My wife and I are leaving today on a 2-week motoring trip through the South of Thailand, stopping off along the way at Koh Samui, Songkhla/HatYai and Penang island in Malaysia. There won't be any interruptions to the posting schedule here, I have plenty of compilations prepared in advance, so I'll continue posting as usual, plus I might even put up a few photos of the scenery from the various destinations we visit.

In addition to today's usual posts is one more "Albums That Deserve Another Listen", this time the mighty Elmore James & The Broom Dusters - Blues After Hours (Crown Records CLP 5168)

My copy is the deluxe CD edition with 8 bonus tracks, which includes many of Elmore's greatest recordings circa 1954-1956: Dust My Blues, Sunnyland, Standing At The Crossroads, Blues Before Sunrise and other classics.

Elmore was only 45 years old when died from a sudden heart attack in 1963. He had a tough life and narrowly missed out on the early 1960s big British & European blues boom, plus the American Folk Blues Festivals, that would surely have brought him greater success. It's also a shame that there's no live footage of Elmore James. Had he lived a couple of years longer he most certainly would have travelled to England & Europe with the AFBFs and would have been filmed in concert performing with Willie Dixon and the others.

Anyway my friends. Dig in. Dig the great music here. And don't forget to take a few seconds to post those comments.

Also note that there's now a "My Followers" list to the blog, so please add yourself to the list.

And remember, now that this blog is public all music fans are welcome here, therefore feel free to spread the word around your friends and share the blog address.
