ReplyDeleteYou're more than welcome moze.
DeleteThese two part vocal harmonies by the Louvin Brothers are always such a pleasure to listen to. Of course, nowadays anyone can replicate this in the studio with autotune, but great to hear the genuine article.
ReplyDeleteSeems to me there were much higher levels of musical abilities and skills back in the past. You notice it too when you see some outstanding jazz or R&B or blues album and you read it was recorded, for example, on May 9, 1958. One day. The musicians went into the studio, set up their instruments, knew what they were going to play because they had rehearsed, they played and recorded, maybe did a couple of takes if required, packed up and went home.
Deletethe crazy part about their harmony: Ira sang the High and Charlie the Low... and then like magic in the middle of a song they switched parts. Even the Experts couldn't tell who was High and who was Low. The argues and split up in '63 and Ira died in '65 hit by a drunk driver. Charlie does a nice tribute to his brother wirh the song, "Ira."
ReplyDeleteThanks for this extra info moze, I'm a big fan of the Louvin Brothers and the Stanley Brothers but I don't know very much about their lives and history.
DeleteThat's great. Thanks for that moze.
DeleteThank you Bob, great stuff as usual.
