ReplyDeleteHi Michel.
DeleteHi Bob,
ReplyDeleteI've enjoyed Little Richard's slow stuff i.e. Bring it on home to me, Send Me Some Loving, I don't Know What You've Got. I'm interested to hear this version by Little Richard & Masayoshi Takanaka of Send Me Some Lovin'. Some good tracks from down south here. Listening to Slim Harpo conjures up images of swamps and spanish moss! Many thanks
Albert, I saw Little Richard live in the early 70s...great show, very fun show, you couldn't go to a Little Richard concert and leave feeling unhappy, he had the power to inject joy into everyone.
DeleteNot a concert you would forget! Did he use a local backing group or bring a modern version of the Upsetters (excellent group of musicians).
DeleteHi Albert, it was early 1970s and he brought a band with him from the USA, they were all black guys except the guitarist, he was a young white guy with a long ponytail. They played for just over an hour and only did half a dozen songs, because they kept playing the same songs over again. For example they'd do Long Tall Sally. And at the end everyone in the audience is going wild with applause, so Richard asks the audience "Did you like it?" Everyone screams "Yeah". Richard asks "Did you really like it?" again "Yeah". Richard: "Did you really really like it"...."Yeah" Richard: "Do you want to hear it again?"....YEAH. So that's how it went. But it was fine. When you went to a Little Richard concert all you want to hear is "Long Tall Sally" "Tutti Frutti" "Rip It Up" and that's what we got.
