DEAD LINKS

It was recently brought to my attention that the links to some of the earlier posts are now dead. This is bad news because when I began posting with ImageNetz.de I read "If the file has not been downloaded within 500 days, it will be automatically deleted." And with KrakenFiles.com "We can store files as long as possible, but sometimes we must delete when the file has not been downloaded for at least 6 months with register users."

So I thought the links were cool for a long time to come.

However, this may not be that much of an issue. As we are a small confined group here, locked in at 100 members, there aren't scores of new people coming in every day and wishing to scroll back through the archives to get things that were posted months ago. I get the feeling everyone who follows this blog checks it on a daily basis, or pops in for a look every couple of days, and everyone is getting what they need there and then and not going back weeks or months previous. So I'm not going back through past posts looking for dead links to replace. That would be a big job and I just don't have the time, also the links may well just die again if nobody is bothering to download those albums.

Instead I'll replace links if and when someone requests. But if you do request an update of some dead links please keep it at about 4-5 max.

Also when I began posting the current series, "Very Best Of Blues, R&B, Soul & Gospel Recordings" someone thought it was a repeat of the earlier series, "The Best Of Blues, R&B, Soul & Gospel". So let me point out now so there's no further confusion. I've been making up these Blues/R&B/Soul compilations for years now and have hundreds of them, and I'm still putting together several new ones every month. I generally make up a series of about 100 volumes. Then I'll start a new series with slight variations in the name, like "The Best Of..." or "The Very Best Of..." or "Assorted Best Of..." So there won't be any reposting of a whole series. If you see a series appear on the blog starting at Volume 1, that means it's Vol 1 in a brand new series that hasn't been posted before.

Regarding covers artwork. I recently dropped the back covers artwork for the Soul, Jazz, Hillbilly, Rockabilly & Country Blues series, only because I saw them as unnecessary as the tracklist gets posted on the blog, plus it's included in every download as a text file, so it saves me time not to make up back covers with the same tracklist. However, the Blues/R&B/Soul compilations all have, and will continue to have, back covers with the tracklists.

Anyway, I hope all that's clear. As always, dig in, enjoy, and don't forget to make a comment every now and then so I know who's still around.

  1. Thanks Bob for the clarifications. I try to get in daily, but sometimes it's only once or twice per week. You post a wide variety of selections, many I already have, but always some new unknowns. Makes things interesting.

  2. I hope I didn't word my comment poorly. There are always a number of new to me songs in every compilation and a few that even if I already have them, there's a good chance they upgrades quality wise. Definitely praising, not complaining!

    1. No way did I read your comment as complaining, not at all. I enjoy all your comments/feedback. And glad to hear you can upgrade some of your collection with better quality from me. :-)
