ReplyDeleteCheers Michel.
ReplyDeleteThank you very much, BOB! This new series looks excellent, in the spirit of "the very best of blues..."
ReplyDeleteI do not know "the things i used to do" sung by the great vocalist Bobby marchan"! Great! There is some fine horn arrangment, but who is the guitarist?
And also thanks for the Fernest Arceneaux photo! his fishing song "allons Γ Lafayette pour y ramasser coton" is one my favourite zydeco tune!
Hi Monsieur Jujube: regarding the Bobby Marchan tracks. These tracks were first released on Sphere Sound 709. Other than Bobby Marchan and Allen Toussaint, the remaining studio musicians are not named in Blues Discography 1943-1970 (Les Fancourt & Bob McGrath). However, my guess would be the guitar is Edgar Blanchard, who played on some earlier Bobby Marchan recordings, and did lots of New Orleans sessions throughout the 1950s-1960s.
