ReplyDeleteDig in and enjoy Mike...lots more coming.
DeleteJoe Simon - Farther On Down The Road (to pick just one on this comp) is, for me, a classic example of a vocalist combining with a great arranger. The backing is superb, clean, tight, rhythmic and doesn't fill up every gap leaving plenty of room for Joe's voice to work it's magic. I sometimes wonder if many soul singers wouldn't have been more successful if they had found their own Willie Mitchell, Jerry Ragavoy or in Joe's case, Bergen White. Just a thought.
