Todays posts brings us up to Vol 28 in the Hillbilly & Country Recordings series. Another diverse collection of great country tracks from The Stanley Brothers, The Louvin Brothers, Dolly Parton, Dwight Yoakam, Carl Perkins, Cowboy Jack Clement and many others.
And another primarily blues/R&B compilation offering a wide selection of styles ranging from Billie Holiday's 1936 "Billie's Blues" to Albert C. Humprey's rollicking "Leave My Baby For Me" in 1989. Along with tracks by G.L. Crockett, Wynonie Harris, Dinah Washington, Tarheel Slim & Little Ann, Arthur Conley, Helen Humes and others including the superb "Adams' Alley", recorded in 1949 for RCA Victor by Illinois Jacquet & His Orchestra.
Hi Bob, Elvis looks a little old to play at Cowboy Dress up, but still a nice early photo!!!!!!!! Mike.
ReplyDeleteGood point Mike, Elvis was born in Jan 1935, so in late 1953 he would be 18yo. He looks about 15-16 in that photo.
