Good comp Bob. Some of these tracks date from the days when you could buy a banjo for $15 but for one or two the price is more in the hundreds! Bob Wills is someone I have a love hate relationship with. He could certainly lead a country swing band but he constantly interjects and over rides brilliant soloists with "Whhee" and "Ohhh" or pipes up in the middle of a great twin guitar solo and says "twin guitars" and so on which drives me nuts but I can't help listening because his bands are so good. Bless his heart.
ReplyDeleteHi Albert, I appreciate your comments on these compilations, there hasn't been much interest in these Hillbilly/Country comps. My favorite in this lot is "Little Maggie" such a wonderful recording, and Ralph Stanley's vocal style really makes it a classic.
