Volume 52 in The Best Of Blues, R&B, Soul & Gospel series starts today with a Ray Sharpe & Jimi Hendrix session recorded on 21 January 1966, then a couple of more bluesy tracks from Jimmy Smith, 4 great gospel tracks from The Gay Family, followed by Jeanne Carroll, Moses Dillard, Lee Dorsey, Ike & Tina Turner and others.
And I know I said no commercially released albums will be posted here, but from time to time there could be some exceptions. The recent photo of black female country singer Linda Martell stirred some interest and I received a request to include some of her recordings in an upcoming country music compilation. I have Linda's sole LP, Color Me Country (1970) complete with some 1962 bonus tracks of her earlier group, the Anglos, and rather than just pull out a few tracks to put into a compilation I decided to go ahead and post the album.
Bob you have a fantastic collection of compilations and it is a real pleasure to listen it in Paris. Thanks a lot again
ReplyDeleteMany thanks for your very nice compliment musicyoucan, glad to hear you're enjoying my collections and there are plenty more to come.
DeleteThank you Bob. Every rule deserves an exception from time to time.
ReplyDeleteYep I didn't want to get into posting officially released albums like so many of the music blogs do. I can live without getting threatening letters from lawyers and music organizations. But from time to time there will be the odd album posted here, and it will only be some rare long out of print LP, certainly nothing readily available elsewhere.
DeleteWhere's all the fun if you're not getting threating letters and having your blog deleted or no reason.
DeleteLOL...I've got other ways of getting my thrills & kicks thanks Xyros.
