As usual, great comp, Bob. I knew all of these artists except Teddy Bunn. That tune totally blew me away! Great song.
ReplyDeleteHi Mike, glad you enjoyed it and thanks for your comment.
DeleteLikewise re Teddy Bunn. Apparently he played extensively from the thirties with Sidney Bechet, Hadda Brooks, Johnny Dodds, J. C. Higginbotham, Lionel Hampton, Jimmie Noone, Louis Jordan, The Washboard Rhythm Kings, the Washboard Serenaders, Victoria Spivey, Lizzie Miles, Spencer Williams and more. And there's me, thinking I knew it all! A delightful discovery, many thanks Bob. And the rest of the comp isn't bad either !
ReplyDeleteGood to hear your enjoyed it Albert. As with all my compilations I like mixing things up, a variety of styles from different periods. It grew out of making compilations for myself to play in my car while driving, particularly on long trips. It started with cassettes, then CDs, now flash drives. I found if I had whole albums on my playlists, l got bored listening to 15 or more songs by the same performer, regardless of how good he or she might be, so mixing things up solved that. And I just continue this approach here with the blog.
DeleteHi Bob Mac,
ReplyDeleteAn excellent set of tunes. Really enjoyed listening to this one. track 19 is magic.
Cheers.
Glad you enjoyed it BB, plenty more coming, I've been busy these past 2 days compiling more for the month ahead.
DeleteThanks Bob, nice set. Anita o day & Dinah Washington are among my favs. Mike.
ReplyDeleteMe too Mike, I think Dinah Washington is my favorite female blues singer, also Lula Reed. Those 2 gals had it all IMO.
