Well another Christmas has come and gone. I hope you all had enjoyable feasts with your families and loved ones, and didn't gain too many extra kilos in weight. Only another couple of days to New Year's Eve, then everything will start to get back to normal again.

And today's photo is the great Roy Buchanan performing in Holland in 1985. I was fortunate to see Roy play live once, at the Perth Concert Hall on 1st July, 1981. I had already seen several of the world's best blues guitarists performing live but nothing I'd seen before had prepared me for what Roy Buchanan could unleash. I left that concert in a rather dazed & confused state. So sad that this amazing guitarist would be dead at age 48.
Wishing you a healthy and happy New Year! Thanks for all your country hillbilly uploads.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jim, and all the best for the new year to you as well.
DeleteWith you on Roy Buchanan Bob. Many great guitarists could make their guitars "speak" but often with a limited vocabulary. Roy couldn't just make his Tele speak in several languages he could make it sing, moan, cry and wail. Sad, sad end. Again, the flip side of brilliant creativity. There's a good Wiki article on Roy B.
ReplyDeleteInterestingly on Roy B's album Dancing on the Edge Delbert McLinton crops up on vocals on three tracks. Delbert had a knack of getting with great guitarists "The Sun Medley" with Danny Gatton is Danny Gatton at his best. Alas, another sad ending. Thanks for all you do Bob, may 2023 be a good one for you.
Hi Albert, yes I'm well familiar with the Sun Medley. And Danny Gatton, another great Tele player. I'm also a big fan of Delbert, he seems like a very nice person as well as being a highly versatile singer.
